WANA (Apr 07) – The Deputy Speaker of Iran’s Parliament stated that the United States is attempting to destabilize the region, adding: “We seek stability in both the region and the international arena, but if the U.S. engages in any malicious actions, it will certainly regret it.”

Hamidreza Haji Babaee made the remarks on the sidelines of the 150th Inter-Parliamentary Union Assembly held in Tashkent, Uzbekistan, during a meeting with América Pérez, Vice President of Venezuela’s National Assembly.

During the meeting, Haji Babaee described Venezuela as a friendly and brotherly nation, noting: “Venezuela has stood by Iran during critical moments. Our two countries share some honorable commonalities. Firstly, both have been subjected to U.S. sanctions. Secondly, Iran and Venezuela hold the same position regarding the Israeli regime and the situation in Gaza.”

He also pointed out that the Iran-Venezuela parliamentary friendship groups are fortunately active, and emphasized that both nations share common international stances on several issues. “Today, the international arena has become a battleground for U.S. actions—from supporting the Israeli regime in its massacre of people in Gaza to imposing unfair tariffs on countries around the world.”

He added, “At this IPU Assembly, we are witnessing widespread condemnation of the Israeli regime for its attacks and the killing of over 60,000 Palestinians. Interestingly, there was a time when we stood alone in protesting against the U.S., but today, many countries are voicing their objections to America’s behavior.”

Regarding nuclear negotiations, Haji Babaee said: “We have tested the United States multiple times, and it has failed each time. We do not trust the U.S., as it did not honor its commitments under the JCPOA. That’s why we have insisted that any future negotiations must be indirect.”

He reiterated: “The United States is trying to disrupt regional security, while we are seeking regional and international stability. But if the U.S. commits any mischief, it will surely regret it.”

Seyed Shamseddin Hosseini, another member of the Iranian parliamentary delegation, added: “I’ve always admired the sincerity and revolutionary spirit of the Venezuelan people. Your leaders demonstrate both warmth and strength. I congratulate you for nurturing such a spirit. Given the current circumstances, it’s crucial that our parliaments encourage our governments not to fear cooperation in the face of U.S. sanctions. As two major oil-exporting countries, Iran and Venezuela can use their collaboration within OPEC to mitigate the impact of these sanctions.”

Vice President of Venezuela’s National Assembly: “We recognize Iran as a strong ally against U.S. hostility”

In response, América Pérez, Vice President of Venezuela’s National Assembly, recalled the long-standing cooperation between Iran and Venezuela. “Twenty-five years ago, Hugo Chávez made it clear that Iran is a friend of Venezuela. We must do everything possible to preserve this friendship. Fortunately, our parliamentary friendship groups are highly active today.”

She added: “We fully recognize Iran’s struggle in support of the Palestinian cause and stand with Iran on this front. Our enemies seek to weaken both of us and plunder our countries’ natural resources. There’s a saying in Venezuela: ‘An American never keeps their promises.’ The U.S. only aims to assert its dominance and exploit nations. That’s why we recognize Iran as a strong ally in the face of this enmity.”

She concluded: “It is now clear that the United States is weaker than ever. We must unite and act together against this enemy of humanity.”
